Over medium-high heat on the stove, bring a pot of water to a boil.
Once the water reaches a boil, add the eggs to the boiling water. Make certain that you arrange the eggs in a single layer within the pot. Avoid overcrowding the pot with too many eggs all at once.
Allow the eggs to boil for a duration of 5-7 minutes.
In a large bowl make an ice water bath, add 4 cups of cold water with 2 cups of ice.
Using a slotted spoon remove the cooked eggs from the boiling water, then transfer them into the bowl with an ice bath.
Let the eggs cool for around 20-30 seconds if you intend to consume them immediately, or let them cool down completely if you plan to eat them at a later time.
Once the eggs are cooled down, peel the eggs, and cut them in half with a knife.
