Sweet Potato Pie with Marshmallow Meringue. The perfect dessert pie that seems to be forgotten! Sweet potato pie filling topped with an amazing homemade marshmallow meringue combine to make an amazing pie that everyone will love!
Sweet Potato Pie with Marshmallow Meringue
I love pumpkin. Pumpkin is totally my fall jam and I can never get enough of it however I tend to forget my love for sweet potatoes and that is such a bad thing because sweet potatoes are AMAZING!
Normally sweet potatoes are used as side dishes in my house like microwave sweet potato and the amazing sweet potato casserole that gets devoured every time I make it. Then I am all, “Sweet potatoes I need more” and I remember this amazing Sweet Potato Pie Recipe that my friend Jaime has made for years.
While sweet potato pie is amazing on its own, what sets this one apart from every other pie recipe out there is the amazing marshmallow meringue on top. Seriously skip making sweet potato pie and putting homemade whipped cream on top.
This Sweet Potato Pie with Marshmallow Meringue topping will blow every other sweet potato pie recipe out of the water! I promise! Also be prepared for there not to be any left overs to eat for breakfast the next morning, so if you are planning on pie for breakfast be sure to make an extra pie!
Easy Sweet Potato Pie Recipe
Jaime shared this easy sweet potato pie recipe with me like 10 years ago and it was AMAZING! She makes it every year, multiple times and it is the staple of her Thanksgiving dessert table. Some how every fall I forget about making it until the last minute when I run out to the store to get any ingredients I don’t have on hand to make it. We have also had a few Thanksgivings where I have completely forgotten about making it, which makes me so sad because I always remember while we are eating dessert.
Not this year though! This year I am planning ahead, and getting all the ingredients to make this amazing Sweet Potato Pie Recipe with Marshmallow Meringue and it will be sitting along side The Best Apple pie and Pumpkin Pie for our Thanksgiving dinner.

What Does Sweet Potato Pie Taste like?
Deliciousness! If you love sweet potato casserole then you will love Sweet Potato pie. Sweet potato pie tastes similar to pumpkin pie, but with different texture and more flavorful.
Sweet potato pie is fluffy compared to pumpkin pie and the flavors are by far more intense (but in a fantastic way!).
Topped with marshmallow meringue this pie is the dessert version of sweet potato casserole, however no judgement here if you pick eating pie as a side dish instead of as a dessert.
How to Store Sweet Potato Pie
If you are going to be making this pie in advanced you will need to store it. To store sweet potato pie you need to cool it to room temperature and then keep it in the fridge. Just wrap it with plastic wrap loosely and then keep in the fridge. It will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Homemade or Store bought pie Crust?
There are a few different pie crusts that work with this amazing homemade pie, store bought refrigerated crust, homemade pie crust or store bought Graham Cracker Crusts.
If you are using homemade pie crust or a store bought refrigerated crust then this pie recipe will make 1 pie. If you are using store bought Graham Cracker Crusts and turn this recipe makes two pies.
It all depends on my mood which one I use, but the Graham Cracker Crust for sure gives it an even more amazing flavor.
How to Boil Sweet Potatoes
You will need fresh sweet potatoes for this recipe and you will need to boil them. If you have never boiled sweet potatoes it is super easy!
Just get a large pot add the sweet potatoes in and then add enough water to cover them completely. Cover the pot with a lid and then place the pot on high heat on the stove.
Bring the water to a boil and once it has started boiling let the sweet potatoes boil for 15 minutes.
Check to see if they are soft by piercing them with a fork or knife. If they are not soft then let them boil for another 5-10 minutes.
Once done boiling use a strainer and drain the water and sweet potatoes.
