Strawberry Puppy Chow
If you have never heard of puppy chow before then you might think it is a crazy name for a tasty treat. Puppy chow is also called muddy buddies, muddy munch, monkey munch and resembles dog chow in a sense but is a tasty treat that many love.
I love making it because it is super easy to make and it is a treat that I know will bring a smile to my kids faces when I make it. Because it makes quite a large amount it is also great for anytime you are having a party.
As you all know we like to celebrate holidays in our house and so when making this muddy buddies recipe my goal was to make a fun Valentine’s Day treat for my kids to enjoy with our fun Valentine’s Day treats.

Variations of this recipe
M&Ms. Any flavor will work and you can change it up by using the peanut butter ones and the regular ones.
Cake Mix. If you do not want strawberry flavor you can use vanilla cake mix or if you want chocolate flavor you can use chocolate cake mix, or even lemon cake mix would work too! If you do not want to use cake mix at all then you will want to use Strawberry Melting chocolate.
Chex Mix Cereal. I like using rice chex mix when making puppy chow, but you can also use the corn, or wheat variety.
Tips For Making this recipe
Melting the Chocolate. You can use a double boiler, (if you have never melted chocolate in a double boiler, check out how to melt chocolate in a double boiler). or you can melt it in the microwave by heating for 30 seconds then stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.
I find using a double boiler to be easier, the chocolate tends to be smoother and its a lot harder to over cook the chocolate with the double boiler then when it is melted in the microwave.
How to Store Puppy Chow
Store in an air tight container, you can store at room temperature for a few days or you can store in the fridge for up to a week.
If you want to freeze puppy chow you can, just store in a freezer bag and place in the freezer for up to 3 months. Remove from the freezer and allow to thaw before serving.

I love the recipe but you must learn to spell. “Poor” on Baking sheet should be “pour” on baking sheet!

Thank you for pointing it out I will go fix it. We are all human and I’ll make spelling errors. Have a great day.
