Chocolate Chip Chaffle Recipe
Chocolate Chip Keto Waffles
It doesnt matter if you call these chocolate chip keto waffles or chocolate chip chaffles they are amazing and I am sure you are going to love them just as much as we do!
One of my favorite breakfast recipes is chocolate chip waffles. We often make chocolate chip pumpkin pancakes or chocolate chip banana waffles and I have been missing them a lot lately.
Now I am not saying these chocolate chip chaffles taste exactly the same, because well that would be impossible. But they taste amazing and they are as close as I have gotten to a low carb chocolate chip waffle being as flavorful as flour filled one.
I haven’t been a fan of anything I had come up with previously that meet my food expectations that would hit the spot like a good chocolate chip waffle does. Then came keto chaffles. They are super tasty, fit perfectly within the keto macros and some of them taste like a low carb dessert vs a meal item. I have to say that is fantastic in my book!
As you know I have been spending hours in the kitchen the past few days coming up with all sorts of tasty easy chaffle recipes. After making the blueberry keto chaffle, I knew that turning it into a chocolate chip chaffle would be fairly easy with a few tweeks.
With those tweaks I was anticipating my first bite and oh boy are they delish!! I made the first batch that came out perfect, then made the batch I was going to photograph and before I could take those photos the chaffles were mia from the plate, so I had to make them again!
If the kids love something, you know its gotta be good right!?! Well when it comes to these tasty chocolate chip chaffles, they are 100% right!
We like to top them with a little bit of confectioners swerve or some keto whipped cream!

What is a Chaffle?
Simply put a chaffle is a waffle made with egg and cheese. Now from the basic chaffle recipe you can make MANY different varieties of chaffles just changing up the type of cheese that you use.
You can also change up the flavors by adding different things to the basic chaffle recipe. There are seriously endless possibilities when making keto chaffles.
Do Chaffles taste like cheese and Egg?
So this might shock you but the ones I have made and created do not taste like there is egg in them at all. There are some chaffle recipes that are made to be a hand held breakfast meal, like the bacon, egg and cheese chaffles. But the majority of them do not tasty eggy or cheesy at all. Which is fantastic for making a sandwich with!
How to Make Chaffles Crispy?
You are not going get crispy like flour based crispy when you are making chaffles, but you will get what is considered crispy for keto foods. The best way to get a chaffle crispy is to cook it for 4 minutes in your waffle maker and then after you remove it from the waffle maker let it sit on a plate for a minute or two. Letting the chaffle sit on the plate gives it time to stiffen up a bit. I prefer mine to set for a bit, Tom and the kids like to eat chaffles right out of the waffle maker. The preference is totally yours.
What do you cook a chaffle in?
I cook my chaffles in the mini Dash Waffle maker because it is cute, tiny and makes the perfect size for me chaffles. If you want to use a regular sized waffle maker you can. The difference is that with a mini waffle maker this recipe will make 2 chaffles, a regular sized waffle maker it will make 1 chaffle.

The chocolate chip recipe is yummy. I topped with unsweetened greek yogurt & blueberries. I also used coconut flour as I’m not a fan of almond flour.

We loved these! I was so surprised, as I figured they would be an “acceptable substitute” to waffles, but they are at least as good as regular waffles. Our 4 little ones (all under 8) even loved them, and we will be making and freezing them for the kids to eat on those busy school mornings, instead of the frozen waffles from the store. Thank you!
