When the holidays come around I do like to make the cookies a bit festive by making them green and red. It is super easy to do, all you have to do is roll the cookies into the sugar sprinkles in the color of your choosing before placing them on a baking sheet to bake.

Peanut butter blossom cookies will last for up to 3 days while stored in an airtight container. Well that is if everyone in your house can leave their hands off of them long enough for them not to disappear before they are even cool!
Can you Freeze Peanut Butter Cookie dough?
If you are planning on making large batches of cookies, you can make the peanut butter cookie dough ahead of time and freeze it.
To freeze the cookie dough, make the dough and then roll the dough into individual cookie dough balls. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet and place the baking sheet into the freezer. Once the dough balls are frozen, remove them from the baking sheet and store in a gallon sized ziploc bag until you plan on baking the cookies.
How to Defrost Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
Place the frozen cookie dough balls in the fridge on a plate and allow the cookie dough balls to thaw gradually. Once they are defrosted bake as you would if you had made the dough fresh.
How to Freeze Peanut Butter cookies
After baking peanut butter cookies remove them from the baking sheet and allow them to cool completely on a cookie rack.
Once they are cooled place them on a cooled baking sheet in a single layer. Place the cookies while on the baking sheet in the freezer. Once frozen remove from the tray and place into a gallon sized freezer bag and remove the air from the bag. Then place the bag of frozen cookies into the freezer.

To defrost the peanut butter cookies, remove them from the freezer and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to thaw at room temperature. Once they are defrosted serve right away or store in an airtight container.

- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- milk chocolate kisses
How to Make Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350 degree.
In a large mixing bowl beat the shortening and peanut butter with an electric mixer on medium speed 30 seconds.
Add the 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat until combined, scraping the sides of bowl.
Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until combined. Slowly stir in the flour.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.
Immediately press a chocolate kiss into each cookie’s center. Transfer cookies to a wire rack; let cool.
