Passion Fruit Lemonade
While we have snow on the ground I am thinking about all the warm weather things I want to do and that includes sitting outside drinking homemade lemonade. When I was at the store recently I spotted some passion fruit and knew it was the perfect thing to use when making a new homemade lemonade.
Making lemonade at home is super easy to do, the hardest part is squeezing the lemons to get the juice out, but I save time using a squeezer.

Where do I find passion fruit?
Depending on where you live you can find passion fruit in the grocery store or at farmers markets. You can also sometimes find it on Amazon.
Do you eat the seeds of the passion fruit?
Yes, the seeds of passion fruit are perfectly edible. You can put the fruit through a strainer and push the flesh and juice through if you really dislike the texture of the seeds. You will still get the flavors without the seeds, with that being said we just leave the seeds in ours.
How do I know when passion fruit is ready to eat?
Most of the passion fruit varieties we got here in the United States are the kind that turned purple as they are ripening. If you buy your passion fruit while they are green allow them to ripen until it is a deep purple shade. When it starts to get all very wrinkly that’s when it’s at the peak of its ripeness and that is when you want to eat it or make this refreshing Passion Fruit Lemonade.
Can I use Bottled Lemon Juice instead of Fresh Lemons?
Technically you can but I do not recommend it. While it’s being sold as lemon juice it does not have that same great flavor fresh lemon stale so if you want that optimal fresh lemonade I highly recommend buying a bag of lemons and squeezing them yourself.
Can I Use Frozen Passion Fruit for this Recipe?
You can substitute frozen passion fruit for fresh passion fruit if you are unable to find it fresh. You will want to get frozen passion fruit pulp if you are using frozen and it can be found in the freezer section of the grocery store.
