I love making homemade ice cream. My kids love making homemade ice cream. And we all love to eat homemade ice cream, especially on a hot summer day. It makes the perfect ending for a hot day after dinner. The kids favorite summer desserts are S’mores and ice cream sundaes.
I like to make some homemade no churn ice cream and then set out toppings like hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and sliced fruit and let the kids have fun and make their own sundaes.

What is Neapolitan Ice Cream?
Neapolitan Ice Cream is an ice cream that has 3 distinct flavors – chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, that are not mixed together but side by side layers. To make this no churn version you will have 3 different sections in the bread pan you are making it in that are divided by flavor.
What is no churn ice cream?
No Churn ice cream is a type of ice cream that you do not need any special equipment to make. You do not need an ice cream maker to make no churn ice cream. To make this Neapolitan ice cream all you need is a mixing bowl, stand mixer or hand mixer, a bread pan and a freezer.
How Long does it take to freeze no churn ice cream?
I like to make this at night so it can have the overnight to freeze and set. However if you are making it during the day and want to have it for dessert night then you need to let is freeze and set for at least 6 hours.
How Long does homemade Ice Cream last?
Homemade Ice Cream will last for months in the fridge as long as it is stored in an airtight container. When storing the homemade ice cream you want a container with a tight seal to avoid freezer burn.
Tips for making Homemade Ice Cream
Allow enough freezer time. You do not want to have soft ice cream so you need to keep it in the freezer long enough. I like to make it at night let it freeze overnight but if you are making it during the day you want to allow 6-8 hours of freeze time before serving.
Leave room for expansion. I use a bread pan when making our no churn Ice Cream but you can use other metal or plastic containers. It is important to leave enough room for the ice cream to expand upward when freezing.
No Churn Neapolitan Ice Cream Ingredients
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Condensed Milk
- 2 tablespoons of Strawberry Instant Pudding Mix (I like Sonic Strawberry milkshake pudding mix)
- Red Food Coloring
- Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix
- Cocoa Powder
- Vanilla Extract
- Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix
- Metal Bread Pan
How to Make No Churn Neapolitan Ice Cream
Pour your heavy whipping cream into a large mixing bowl and mix on high until it becomes stiff and peaks form.
Add in your condensed milk and mix until combined.
Separate evenly into 3 separate bowls.
Add two tablespoons of chocolate pudding mix to one bowl and mix well. Add ½ a tablespoon of cocoa powder and mix well.
Add two tablespoons of strawberry pudding mix to the next bowl and mix well. Add a couple drops of red food coloring and mix well to give it a pink tint.
Lastly, add your vanilla to the last bowl and mix well. If it becomes too runny, add 2 tablespoons of vanilla pudding mix to that bowl as well.
Add the ice cream mix to your bread pan to make the layers.
Smooth out the top.
Freeze overnight.

- Metal Bread Pan
Ingredients
- 2 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 cup Condensed Milk
- 2 tablespoons Strawberry Pudding Mix I like Sonic
- 2 drops Red Food Coloring
- 2 tablespoons Chocolate Pudding Mix
- ½ tablespoon Cocoa Powder
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons Vanilla Pudding Mix
Instructions
- Pour the heavy whipping cream into a large mixing bowl and mix on high until it becomes stiff and peaks form.
- Add in the condensed milk and mix until combined.
- Separate evenly into 3 seperate bowls.
- Add two tablespoons of chocolate pudding mix to one bowl and mix well. Add ½ a tablespoon of cocoa powder and mix well.
- Add two tablespoons of strawberry pudding mix to the next bowl and mix well. Add a couple drops of red food coloring and mix well to give it a pink tint.
- Lastly, add your vanilla extraact and the vanilla pudding mix to the last bowl and mix well.
- Add your strawberry mix to the bread pan first. Followed by the vanilla, and finally chocolate.
- Smooth out the top using a rubbr spatula.
- Freeze overnight.
