The first layer is a graham cracker crust, the second is walnuts, the third chocolate chips, the fourth is shredded coconut, and the fifth layer is the sweetened condensed milk. The 7th and 8th layers if you are adding them can be any of the variation suggestions below.
To add additional layers you will want to do that before pouring the sweetened condensed milk on top.
Variations of this Recipe
You can also add things like pecans or other nuts, different flavored chips to this recipe for an added texture or flavors that you want to.
Add more Chocolate. You can also add white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate if you want to.
Add more nuts. I like using walnuts but you can also use pecans.
Add more flavors. You can add peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips or toffee chips as well to add even more flavors.
Add dried Fruit. You can add things like raisins, dried cherries, or dried cranberries if you want to.
Use coconut flakes. You can use coconut flakes instead of shredded coconut.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt. If you want more of a sweet and salty flavor add a sprinkle of sea salt after the shredded coconut.
Add a crunch. Pretzel pieces are a great addition that will add crunch and Saltines.
Tips for making this recipe
Grease the baking dish well. You can use nonstick cooking spray or butter to grease the pan.
Press the graham cracker well on the bottom of the baking dish. Use a measuring cup or glass to press the graham cracker crumbs into the dish.
Make sure the bars are cooled before cutting. You can put them in the fridge or freezer to speed up the process.

You can store magic cookie bars in an airtight container. They do not need to be refrigerated but I do suggest placing a piece of parchment paper between the stacks of cookies when you are storing them.

How many Servings?
Depending on how big you cut the bars, magic cookie bars can make anywhere from 12-24 servings depending on how big you cut them. If you are having a large get-together where there will be a lot of food I would cut them into 24 pieces.

- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cup shredded coconut
- 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
How to Make Magic Cookie Bars
Spray a 9×13 baking dish includinig the sides of pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Melt the butter in a microwave-safe dish.
In a food processor add the graham crackers to make graham cracker crumbs.
In a medium bowl add the graham cracker crumbs and the melted butter and combine graham crumbs with the butter well to form the crust.
Pour the graham cracker and butter mixture into a baking dish and press the graham cracker crumb mixture into the bottom of the pan.
Sprinkle the walnuts over top of the graham cracker crust.
Next, sprinkle the chocolate chips and any other ingredients that you want to except for the shredded coconut.
Then pour the sweetened condensed milk over the entire dish.
Top with the shredded coconut.
Bake in the oven for 25 minutes and the edges are golden brown.
Allow to cool completely before cutting. You will want to cut these bars into 12 -24 squares.
