You see all those pictures of Elf on the Shelf flying and you are like “Woah! That is magic!”. Then, of course, you wonder how to do it because you know the kids are going to love it. Well, you are in luck! Just follow these simple directions for this Elf on the Shelf Flying DIY Trick!
Elf on the Shelf Flying DIY Trick
You can have your Elf on the Shelf fly in many different ways, from the ceiling, under the kitchen cabinet, well really the ideas are endless!

Elf on the Shelf Flying DIY Trick Supplies:
- Fishing line
- Command hooks
- Needle
Elf on the Shelf Flying DIY Trick Directions:
Step 1: Put your command hook under the cabinet with the hook facing down so you can loop the fishing line around it.
Step 2: Cut a long piece of fishing line and tie a small knot at the end of it. How long is going to depend on the height you need him to be.
Step 3: Use a needle and thread the fishing line thru it the fabric part of your elf. You want the knot side of the fishing line to be on one side and the fishing line to come out another section. You can do this on the body or on his collar. It all depends on how you want him to hang.
Step 4: Remove the fishing line from the needle and make a loop. Hang the loop on the command hook.
Tada! Your elf is now flying!
You can do this trick by putting the fishing line thru his foot also if you want him to hang upside down.
When you need to remove the fishing line you just cut it and then pull it out.
Second trick to Hanging your Elf on the Shelf:
If your elf is wearing a cape or clothing you can tie the fishing line around the body and then put the clothing back on after you have tied the fishing line and then hang the fishing line on the command hook.
