Hot Chocolate Cookies
I originally shared this recipe in 2015 and it was time to update it with better photos and to answer a few of the questions that have been asked over the years. If you have made these hot chocolate cookies in the past, do not worry it is the same hot chocolate cookie recipe you love, but new photos and a few helpful baking tips!
Hot Chocolate Cookie Recipe
I love having a mug of hot chocolate with my cookies during the winter months. What could be better than including that same hot chocolate right into my cookies! So I do what I like to do best and came up with these Hot Chocolate Cookies!
Seriously they are amazing, they are not like any of the other traditional cookies like chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, gingerbread cookies or Homemade Sugar Cookies. They are truly their own cookie with their own flavor that is AMAZING!

I also can not mention hot chocolate anything with out mentioning hot chocolate slime. This slime is AMAZING, the kids love it and it is made with hot chocolate mix. Even better the hot chocolate slime . changes from solid to liquid when you play with it depending on how much pressure you use squeezing it. It is seriously some awesomely cool stuff!
Marshmallows in Cookies
Depending on what I have on hand is what I use when making these hot cocoa cookies. Sometimes I use mini marshmallows and other times I use marshmallow bits. Either one will work, however I do find that if I want full marshmallow bites, the bits are better because they do not melt.
I was able to find the marshmallow bits at Walmart but if you cant find them you can get a large pack of them here.
Best Hot Chocolate Mix for cookies
I use the powdered individual packets of hot chocolate when making these cookies. If you have a big container of hot chocolate mix then you will want to use 3/4 cup of hot cocoa mix.
There are now lots of different hot chocolate flavors any of them will work as long as they are not the sugar free hot chocolate mix.
How to Store Hot Chocolate Cookies
Allow the cookies to cool completely and store in an airtight container.
Can I freeze Hot chocolate cookies?
Yes. If you are going to freeze the cookies after you have made them allow the cookies to cool completely. Once they are cool lay them on a room temperature baking sheet in a single layer and then place in the freezer for 1-2 hours. Once the cookies are frozen, remove from the baking sheet and store in a freezer zip top bag.
Cookies will last about 3 months in the freezer.
