What goes on a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board?
Just about any thing you can think of that you would want to add to a cup of hot chocolate, you can be as creative as you want to with your Hot Cocoa Charcuterie Board, which is one of the best things about making them!
Marshmallows
Marshmallows are a must for adding to hot chocolate, we used peppermint mini marshmallows and large marshmallows ours but you can totally change things up and use different flavored marshmallows, different colored marshmallows and different shaped marshmallows. If you are making a Christmas hot chocolate board those green Christmas tree marshmallows would be amazing.
Chocolate
You can use whatever chocolate you love but I love having white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chunks, and dark chocolate chunks as our chocolate add ons.
Flavor Add ins
Adding extra flavor is always fun when having hot chocolate, caramel and fudge are our go tos. You can also use ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks. Homemade caramel sauce is amazing, if you have never made homemade caramel sauce, you gotta try it, it is so easy to make!
Candy
Candy is a great addition to putting in your hot chocolate or on top of the whipped cream on your hot chocolate, we like to use Andes mints, mini peppermint patties, Hershey kisses, caramels, crushed peppermint and candy canes. You can also add Reese’s pieces, your favorite chocolate bars, or peanut butter cups if you want to.
During the Christmas months I also like to add candy canes to our list of cocoa board candy choices.
Cookie Sticks
I love using cookie sticks as our stirrers for hot chocolate. Then once they have soaked in the hot chocolate they are a tasty treat!
Whipped Cream
When enjoying hot chocolate whipped cream is a must. You can use homemade whipped cream or store bought whipped cream. The different flavored whipped cream is also perfect for hot cocoa boards.
Hot chocolate combinations
You have all of these tasty hot chocolate toppings to use and they make for amazing flavor combinations. Here are some of our favorites:
Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Add crushed peppermints, whipped cream and a candy cane.
Peppermint Mocha Hot Chocolate. Add crushed peppermints, chocolate chunks, whipped cream and a candy cane.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board
If you are making this hot chocolate board for your family then I would put the hot cocoa mugs on the board. If you are making it for a party or a large group of paper I would leave them off the board and use paper cups for everyone to make their own custom hot chocolate.
Fill a small glass jar with crushed peppermint. Chop the chocolate if you are using bars. You can also unwrap the candies if you want to.
Place a small glass jar filled with the crushed peppermint on the bottom right side of the board leaving about 2 inches from the corner.
Place two mugs on the board filled with hot chocolate, one on the bottom right corner and one towards the middle of the top.
Add a small container of the caramel sauce to the bottom left corner.
Place the peppermint patties just above the caramel container.
Place the kisses on the top right corner.
Add the cookies to the top left corner.
Place the peppermint marshmallows right beneath the cookies.
Fill in the spot next to the cookies with the chocolate chips.
