Flower Sandwiches
School is looking a bit different for many of us this year, myself included I am working on ways to make things more fun. This year we are switching to homeschooling and while I homeschooled my kids when they were in preschool they are now in elementary school and so I am trying to make the new change as fun as possible. With that I am working on making lunch fun. Yes it might be a little silly, but the kids are used to sitting with their friends at lunch and having lunch be a relaxing time between their school classes.
I thought it would be fun to get creative with their lunches sometimes and make fun sandwich ideas for kids, like this flower sandwich. I try to make them healthy lunches but also adding in a sweet for them as well. The kids loved them, so this was a total win in my house! Of course even when the lunches are fun, I need them to be easy and quick enough that I can make them during our lunch break time.

Change up the sandwich. My kids love peanut butter and jelly but you can make this sandwich with any nut butter or flavor of jelly. You can also do the same thing to a lunch meat sandwich if that is what your kids prefer.
Change up the grass. I used coconut for the grass but if your kids are not fans of coconut you can totally change out that section for a salad.
Change up the flower shape. Amazon has lots of different flower shaped cookie cutters, just grab your favorite one.
Flower Sandwiches Ingredients
- peanut butter or other nut butter
- Grape jelly or your favorite jelly
- bread, we use white bread but you can use any bread
- celery
- raisins- you can also use craisins
- green colored coconut
- mini marshmallows
How to Make Flower Sandwiches
Using a flower cookie cutter cut out the sandwich.
Spread 2 tablespoons of the peanut butter onto your bread then top the peanut butter with your jelly, place the last slice of bread on top of the jelly.
Spread the remainder peanut butter into the center of the celery, top the peanut butter with the raisins then cut 2 1/2 inch pieces on an angle off of the celery to create the stems of the flower.
Place the coconut at the bottom of your plate and spread it out to create the grass. Lay the longest piece of celery with the peanut butter side down onto the plate then place the two smaller pieces of celery off of the stem of the celery.
At the very top of the celery place your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The final step is to place a few marshmallows as a special treat into clumps to create your fluffy white clouds.
