Easy Stove Top Homemade Chili Recipe
Chili is a great meal to enjoy in the winter but come summer time it makes the perfect topping for hotdogs. While I love making my crockpot chili sometimes I just don’t feel like taking up space on the counter with the crockpot. That is when I make this easy stove top chili.
I like to make it after a day spent going veggie picking with the kids. While I am chopping veggies and fruit for the freezer I can have no bean chili cooking. Come dinner time I like to throw some hot dogs on the grill and make some tasty chili dogs for dinner.
If you are making this easy homemade chili during the winter it is the perfect warm you up dinner!
What are good toppings for chili?
There are lots of toppings that you can pile on your chili to add even more amazing flavor. I don’t always put toppings on my chili, but sometimes we do. If we are having a get together having a chili bar is a great way to feed everyone. I double and triple this recipe and then put the toppings out in bowls for people to customize their chili.
- sour cream
- cheddar cheese
- shredded lettuce
- tomatoes
- red onions
- jalapeno peppers
- sliced avocado
- sliced olives
- crushed tortilla chips
What to Serve with Chili
When making this crockpot chili recipe for dinner I normally make a side of cornbread and a salad to go with it. If you are not a fan of cornbread and fresh crusty bread will go perfectly.
Variations of this Recipe
Add beans. If you are a fan of beans in your chili you can add them. Red kidney beans, white kidney beans, and black beans are great options for beans in chili.
Chang up the meat. If you are not a fan of ground beef you can use ground chicken or ground turkey in this homemade chili recipe.
Add more veggies. I added one green bell pepper and an onion but you can add more green peppers and onion if you want to.
Change up the spice. If you like your chili you can add more chili powder to make it spicier.
