It is no secret that our household loves Star Wars and that my son is a big Star Wars fan so having a Luke Skywalker costume is expected for our house. Of course when you are in the store looking for costumes for your Star Wars loving child they are super expensive and thats not a fun blow to have to tell the kids. However with a few things (most that you can find in your house or pretty cheap) you can make this DIY Luke Skywalker Costume that is perfect for Halloween or for the kids dress up box.

Supplies needed for DIY Luke Skywalker Costume

Pair of Brown Boots (great place to find these would be a thrift store, they are my daughters boots, but no one will even be able to tell if your son is wearing brown boots that are technically girls with his costume)

White Karate top (thrift store as well unless your child is in karate then you can just use their own top)

Brown belt (A wide one works best)

Khaki Skinny Pants or leggings (You can get some cheap ones at thrift stores or if you do not have one near you Thredup and Schoola are two places online that you can buy cheap clothing, both give you free credit when you are a new shopper)

Light Saber

How to put DIY Luke Skywalker costume together

It is easy to assemble this DIY Luke Skywalker costume after you have all your pieces.

Then have your kids put on the khaki pants,if possible skinny khaki pants work a lot better then the wide leg pants.

Then tie the Karate top like you normally would for if they were wearing the full karate uniform.

Then have them put on the brown boots. You want these to be knee high if possible so they cover the bottom part of the pants like the real Luke Skywalkers did.

Then you want to tuck in the pants to the boots.

Grab your belt and put it on, if you are using an adult belt then you can wrap it with out actually putting it on and make it so there is a loop where you can stick the light saber in if they do not want to carry it.

And tada! A quick and easy DIY Luke Skywalker Costume that won’t break the bank. Plus you probably have a few of the items in your house already. The books Logan is wearing are actually McKenzie’s and so are the pants. The karate top is his and the belt is mine.
