Copycat Mary Kay’s Satin Hands
We all know Mary Kay’s Satin Hands. It is something that every woman should have in their arsenal of beauty products, because it will make your hands super soft and smooth, which is great before a night out with friends or on that special date. No reason to spend a fortune on this exfoliating soap, use this recipe to make your own at home for a fraction of the cost.
People often ask me what my favorite DIY beauty product is. I always tell them it’s copycat Mary Kay’s satin hands. This post shares how you can make your own version for less than half the price!
It might seem like an indulgence but trust me- when you rub those little sugar crystals into your hands, it feels like you’re at the spa! Who doesn’t want soft, smooth hands?
What is Mary Kay’s Satin Hands?
It is a unique moisturizing exfoliating cream that comes in a tub. It contains tiny Sugar Crystals to gently scrub off dead skin cells, leaving you with beautifully smooth hands. And while it works fantastic, there are a few problems. You can only get it from Mary Kay. You need a rep and then wait for it to come on. You can’t just go to the store and buy it. The other problem is the price. A 3 ounce bottle is $12. With that size, it doesn’t last long at all and that means you can be reordering often.
Why Make Your Own Copycat Mary Kay’s Satin Hands Recipe?
As I said before, it is really easy to make and it comes out way cheaper- especially if you use coupons and get your Dawn for free or almost free. You won’t need a Mary Kay rep to get it for you, just visit the grocery store or your local drugstore. And lastly, you can make as much as you want without reordering or running out. The very best part of making this Copycat Satin Hands recipe at home? You can make a tub of it for less than you will pay for a 3 ounce bottle.
How to Store Need a Copy Cat Mary Kay’s Satin Hands
You want to store this recipe in a cool dry place. You also want to make sure you are keeping it in a container that has a sealable lid. If you are keeping this soap by the tub, using a sealable lid prevents the water from getting inside and ruining the batch.
How Long Does Copycat Satin Hands Last?
This hand cream should last between 2 to 3 months. This is why I like to make small batches. It takes up a small amount of space and I don’t have to worry about it going bad. You will easily use this amount of Satin Hands before it can go bad.
How to Add Scents to this Soap
The Down Olay soap that you are using as the base of this copycat has a scent to it on its own. However, you can easily give this Copycat Satin Hands its own scent. You can use essential oils in order to give this soap whatever scent you like. You can also use fragrance oils. Start by adding a small amount, a few drops at a time, and you can always add more as you go.
Easy Ways to Give This as a Gift
Anyone will love getting this Copycat Satin Hands as a gift. You can make a large batch and then break it down into smaller portions so that you have enough to give to everyone. Be sure to keep some for yourself.
You can find cute little jars at the dollar store and fill them up with this Copycat Satin Hands recipe. Attach a lovely scented label on the front as well. A great time to give this is on a special day like Mother’s day or Christmas.
You can take it another step further and add more decoration to the jar. You can find adorable stickers that go along with holidays and seasons that you can have printed up for even less than at the dollar store. You can also get creative with all sorts of ribbons, bows, and paper flowers. You want to make sure you keep the label giving it a handmade look.

It sounds very good, but I like to mix sugar with olive oil and your hands will look really silky.

I just used this in the shower for my whole body, not just my hands!! They are softer! I’m keeping this idea. Thank you! Now…do you have a solution for dry skin? They’re soft but still dry. Anyway, thank you! You saved me money I would’ve spent on a MaryKay product that would’ve cost more! And, I like to save money!! 🙂

I would recommend using some of the Essential Oils that are recommended for dry skin 🙂 Geranium and Lavender being your top ones. For eczema Helichrysum, Juniper Berry are your top oils 🙂 Hope this helps!!
