How often do I need to clean my baseboards?
How often you need to clean baseboards is totally depandant on the house you live in. Personally I just keep a watch on them and when I see dust piling up on my baseboards I know it is time to clean them.
After the first time cleaning the baseboards with bleach and then going over them with the dryer sheets, you should have easy cleaning from here on out!
You should also have no issues going a few weeks with out having to go over the baseboards again with dryer sheets.
How to Clean Baseboards
With this simple baseboard cleaning trick you do not need a baseboard cleaning tool. This is the best way to clean baseboards that I have ever done.
All you need is a box of dryer sheets! Yes that is the secret trick to having amazing clean baseboards. Using dryer sheets to clean baseboards is the only way I can get mine spotless quickly.
If your baseboards are really dirty use a bleach and water combo to get the dirt off. Let the baseboards air dry.
Then use the dryer sheet to clean your baseboards.
The dryer sheet costing will make it so the dust does not stick to your baseboards.

Lol like dust won’t come again, this author got paid to plug an article and didn’t fix a spelling error almost two years later…that says it all.
Babs says
OMG! A typo!!
April……we like the cleaning tip.
YOU can go blow!
Stay off the internet and be an English teacher.

Thanks for the tip, I will try this on my baseboards for sure.

These dryer sheets are also good to use on your blinds. Save the used ones and wipe down your blinds with them. I usually put the used dryer sheets in a zip lock bag and use when I clean.

If you live in an area that has lots of bugs you can use dryer sheets to get them off the car. In Florida we have love bug season twice a year and dryer sheets are great for cleaning the windshield, bumper and grill with no damage to the car. Any brand will do.
Denna says
Great tip. I had been using dryer sheets for various cleaning tips but toss extras . Saving in zip locks great idea. I also put on bottom cat litter trays during litter refills.
Laura says
She doesn’t even plug a brand! Not buying that she got paid for anything.
Stephanie says
No I didn’t get paid for this just trying to share a cool tip.

She did not say the dust will never come, she says it will HELP repel the dust but you have to keep it up. go back and read it again?

Maybe you can forgive a typo, everybody does it.

How about s run-on sentence?
Cathy says
Actually, that was a comma splice. And everyone, what’s wrong with having standards for grammar? Let’s slow the slide toward idiocracy. I thought the suggestion to edit was polite. Some people are entirely too sensitive about anyone saying anything. Good writing is better than bad writing. Can we all agree on that?

I thought the comments were directed to April not Eric.
Victoria says
Yep!

It’s also “awesome” not “awsome”. Might want to check your own writing before correcting someone else’s. FYI

MidgetMomma says

These items are added for “food for thought”. Take ’em or leave ’em. If you have nothing better to do than rant about spelling, get a life, spend time with your family or get up and walk the dog for a change. If you are alone and lonely, only YOU can change that.
Anita says
I agree CJ, people can be so anal about every little thing. Great tip Midgetmomma.
Deb says
Thank you CJ for speaking the truth! People are so shallow.
Joyce says
I agree!!! If they are that perfect at spelling stay off here!! Heavens sake all you are trying to do is help us!!!
Helen says
I think these girls should get a life and stop being so picky over “spelling” life is for living Use the good ideas or not as the case may be but don’t spend another minute wasting your life on trivia .
Gina says
Well said CJ, some people really have nothing better to do. It’s a topic on cleaning tips which she is good enough to share. Not an English lesson.
Jean says
Good for you, CJ!
Mary says
I agree. Please everyone, don’t you have anything better to do than criticize the article? Read it or exit and move on! My goodness!
Naomi says
Thanks for the wonderful tip – I love anything about cleaning as I clean homes for my job. I never heard this suggestion before.
Kristy says
You all are so critical and RUDE (except you last few, beginning after Margo). . . it must be exhausting to be you. This blog was NOT written to be critiqued, it was written for the helpful content. Thanks for the tip MidgetMomma! And thanks for getting the answer to my question Margo. 😉
Krista says
I don’t know about the others but the problem with spelling and grammatical errors on a blog for me is this: it looks unprofessional, like you couldn’t be bothered to spell check or reread to edit yourself so in turn it can make your readers feel like you just don’t care enough to be precise. If you are writing, or attempting to write professionally, which is the whole idea of blogging, you should have enough pride to put out the best product possible. I also own a blog and yes mistakes can happen even after proofing, but you should strive for as little as possible. It also makes you look unintelligent and then your words hold little credence. If it’s a post that you’re being paid for that’s even worse because you sent a link to the company and they approved it before you posted and now that makes the company or product look bad too and unfortunately this has become the norm, especially with product review blogs. You get paid to WRITE so it’s just common sense and courtesy to do it correctly.
Deb says
Run on sentences without proper punctuation make a blogger look unprofessional. Those who live in glass houses…….SMDH
brenda says
good grief, Krista…. really?????
Elizabeth says
Can every one go clean your baseboards? Meow!
Brenda says
I am disabled for back injury and need to have my knees replaced.
It is very difficult for me to for me to do anything!
Can anyone think how to clean with my injuries.?

A cleaning service may help you with that

No kidding! I can’t believe how judgemental people like to be. Perhaps they could all get jobs as proofreaders for textbooks or something! It’s a cleaning tip for crying out loud… NOT a job application!
Marsha says
Disclaimer: lots of spelling and typo mistakes read if you dare! I’m reading all of these posts on my lunch hour and laughing about it! Leave it to a bunch of women and looks like 1 man who take the time to call out the spelling. I make mistakes all the time, not just in spelling but just in everyday life. You guys would feel so full filled if you new me. Not to mention have a field day in correcting my mistakes. Please someone correct my message! If it really bothers you, correct it.
Jeanne says
Really. We are talking about cleaning baseboards! Grow up people.some of you are being so punative!
TN girl says
Could this also work on wood floors?
MidgetMomma says
I havent tried it but i dont see why it wouldnt since they are wooden like baseboards are 🙂
Kathy says
Maybe disabled could use a sponge mop for baseboards if they cannot reach them? Soap and water to clean, and the dryer sheet on a swiffer type applicator. Just a thought. Not everyone can afford a cleaning service! – ; )
Joanna says
Does anyone really clean their baseboards once per week? If you do accolades to you! Very impressive ?
Abbie collie says
This sounds great but the dryer sheet does not work and I have carpeting where baseboards are. Bleach will take out the color even a drop.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness

Kathy says
The post stated that the dryer sheet will HELP repel the dust. But you have to keep it up every week. Go back and look at the post again.?
Mllwl says
The dryer sheets work really well to repel dust after the initial cleaning. I clean houses and clean the baseboards once a month. I use a clean soft bristle broom to run over them until the dryer sheet has to be used again. Thank you for the tip just wish the drama wasn’t in the comments.

You are very welcome!
