Tips for Making this Recipe
Spread out the popcorn. It’s best if the popcorn is spread out in one layer, with no spaces between the popcorn. This allows you to get chocolate on every piece without wasting chocolate.
Let popcorn dry. You can leave your popcorn out of the fridge to dry, if desired, it will just take a while longer to set, unless it’s in a cool, dry area.
Drizzle the chocolate on the popcorn. If you want to skip the frosting bag, you can use a spoon to drizzle the chocolate instead. It takes longer and doesn’t look as uniform, but it does the trick.
Thick chocolate. If your chocolate seems overly thick, add a bit more coconut oil to make it easier to use and work with.
Variations of this recipe
Change up the popcorn. I used movie theater butter popcorn and it was the perfect mixture of salty sweet. However, you can use any type of popcorn you desire, including homemade popcorn! Microwave popcorn, stovetop popcorn, and popper popcorn are all options for making popcorn to use in this recipe.
Add more toppings. You can get as creative as you want to when you make this chocolate drizzled popcorn by adding more toppings. Add mini marshmallows, M&Ms, sprinkles, peanuts, and anything else you want to. Be sure to add the toppings before the chocolate has fully set so it all sticks together.
How do you store leftover popcorn?
Store any leftover popcorn in an airtight container and it will keep for about 1 day. However, I suggest you make this popcorn as close to the time you’re going to serve it because I do not find it to keep well and we are not really fans of it after it has been stored.
