Is This Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Safe to Eat
While cookie dough is something that is not normally considered safe to eat, this recipe for cookie dough frosting is completely safe. There is no egg in the frosting. Some people are also concerned about eating raw flour as well. If that is something that you are concerned with, you can easily toast the flour before adding it to the frosting.
To ensure your flour is safe to eat, microwave it for 2 minutes on a microwave safe plate or shallow bowl, stirring after 1 minute. Let the cooked flour cool off before adding it to the mixer bowl.

Make sure the butter is soft- You want to make sure the butter is softened before you use it in this recipe, but not melted. If it is not softened, it can leave clumps of butter that are not appealing. If the butter is melted, you will not get the right consistency for the frosting.

If you are making this for cupcakes that have more then 12 in the recipe you will need to double the recipe. This Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frosting Recipe makes enough frosting for 12 cupcakes.
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frosting Directions
Combine the butter, sugar and brown sugar together in the bowl of your mixer. Cream them together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Add in the milk and vanilla until combined.
Turn the speed down to low and carefully add in the flour just until it’s combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
With a 1/4 cup scoop, scoop the dough into the top of each cupcake.
