This is a sponsored post in partnership with Women Online and Wounded Warrior Project to help further the WWP mission of honoring and empowering wounded warriors.
I am excited to be taking part and sharing about the Carry Forward 5k For Wounded Warriors. We are bringing awareness to the WWP Carry Forward® 5K, delivered by CSX®, a powerful and unifying experience that raises mission-critical funds for services and resources for wounded veterans.
The I Carry For… campaign will put the faces and voices of this community forward, featuring heartfelt stories of inspiration, bravery and devotion, personalizing the purpose of the Carry Forward 5K to encourage participation from your community and network.
What is the Carry Forward 5k For Wounded Warriors
The Carry Forward 5k is a great way to support and raise money for the Wounded Warriors program which in turn helps our wounded veterans. This 5k raises needed funds to help support the Wounded Warriors program mission of helping and supporting our wounded military veterans.
With in person and virtual 5k events anyone can sign up. Even better you don’t have to be a runner to sign up for this 5k, walkers are totally encourage to join to. We are so going to be walkers, because there are no runners in our house. 😉
What Makes the Carry Forward 5k unique:
Participants choose to complete the 5K in one of three symbolic ways:
- Carry a flag to show support and patriotism.
- Carry a weight to represent the responsibilities veterans carry while serving our country.
- Carry another person to symbolize one warrior carrying another in their time of need.
The I Carry For… campaign puts the symbolism of “carrying for” a wounded warrior, veteran, and active duty military member front and center. The Wounded Warrior Program helps our service members and it is our turn to stand up for those who have fought for us by supporting the programs they need to live life to the fullest on their own terms.
How to Register for Carry Forward 5k
Head on over here and select either your city if available or the Virtual 5K. (Note: In accordance with guidance from health officials, San Diego and Nashville have become virtual events meaning that you can walk or run wherever you are most comfortable on the scheduled date.)
You will then get an e-mail with your campaign link that you can share to help raise funds for the Wounded Warrior program.
On the day of your 5k, participate and then share on social media photos of you and your family if they are doing it with you, from the 5k!
Why I signed up for the Carry Forward 5k
We have been long time supporters of our Military, being that I was active duty for a short time and Tom was active duty and then injured while on active duty.
Tom is a disabled Veteran and we have lived the last 10 years as a military family who knows the struggles veterans and their families go thru. The support of the Wounded Warriors program that is given to our military veterans can be totally life changing for them and their families.
I have signed up for the Nashville Carry Forward 5k, as that one is being done virtually on September 19th. The kids will be joining me and we will be carrying flags as well.
I think it is important to get my kids involved, when Tom was active duty all 3 of the older kids, McKenzie, Logan and Alyssa were very young and Hannah was not born yet. They don’t remember the life we lived then, but it is important to both Tom and myself that we make sure they know and understand just how important our Military and our Veterans are to our country.
Head on over here and sign up for the Carry Forward 5k to join me on September 19th and help our veterans!
