How to Serve Apple Stuffed French Toast
Whenever I make apple stuffed french toast I drizzle a little bit of real maple syrup on top. If I am wanting to change things up and get super fancy I will make some homemade whipped cream and then drizzle either maple syrup or some caramel sauce on top. Oh it is so good, I am getting hungry just thinking about it right now!
Best Bread for Making French Toast
The best bread to use when making french toast is Texas toast but I know not every store carries it.
As much as I love to use Texas toast when I am making french toast, like with my french toast sticks, it seems we have a shortage all the time in the store near me. It is like impossible to find it and it drives me crazy but I have learned to live.
Instead I look for a whole wheat bread that is thicker cut. If you have white bread on hand it will work for this apple french toast recipe too.
Apple Stuffed French Toast Ingredients
- cheese softened
- apples
- cinnamon
- Slices of bread
- eggs
- milk
- Vanilla extract (Optional)
How to Make Apple Stuffed French Toast
Heat up the griddle to medium high heat.
Rinse and chop apples in to bite size pieces.
Mix apples, cream cheese and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
In a separate bowl mix eggs and milk. If you are going to add a little vanilla extract then you will want to add it in here.
Put the apple mixture on one slice of bread and put another slice of bread on top of the mixture making it so the apple cinnamon mixture is between the 2 slices of bread.
Dip bread into milk and egg mixture, make sure both sides are covered well.
Grease the pan or griddle with non stick cooking spray or butter.
Place the stuffed french toast on the griddle and cook until golden brown. Once the first side is cooked flip and cook the other side. Repeat until all of them are cooked. It will only take 1-2 minutes per side to cook until perfectly golden brown.
