What is Air Fryer English Muffin Pizza?
English Muffin Pizza is a quick and easy alternative to traditional pizza, where English muffins serve as the pizza crust.
This English muffin pizza recipe is convenient and easy for making individual-sized pizzas. English muffin pizzas are often a favorite among kids and adults, as they allow everyone to personalize their pizza and pick their toppings.
The mini pizzas, after being assembled, are then cooked in the air fryer, making them super easy to make and perfect for quick lunches, dinners, and snacks.
What To serve with Mini Pizza to make it a full meal
While we enjoy mini pizzas made with English muffins as a snack or for lunch, we sometimes make them for dinner, too. When making them for dinner, I make other things along with them to make it a full meal. Some side dish ideas for serving with pizza are:
- Pasta Salad: A cold pasta salad with vegetables and Italian dressing can be a refreshing addition.
- Grilled Vegetables: Roasted or grilled vegetables such as zucchini, bell peppers, or eggplant can provide a healthy and flavorful side.
- Soup: A warm soup, like minestrone or tomato basil, can be a comforting choice.
- Garlic Bread or Breadsticks: A classic choice that complements pizza flavors. You can also add cheese or herbs for extra flavor.
- Salad: A fresh salad can balance out the richness of pizza. Choose a simple salad like Olive Garden Salad or a Caesar salad.
- Mozzarella Sticks: These gooey and crispy cheese sticks are a favorite among many and make for a great finger food. On nights when I want quick and easy, I skip making homemade and make air fryer mozzarella sticks.
- Chicken Wings: Whether buffalo, barbecue or another flavor, chicken wings are a popular choice for a side dish.
- Caprese Salad: Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil drizzled with balsamic glaze make for a light and refreshing side.
How to Customize Personal Pizzas Made with English Muffins
When making them as a meal or if I am having a large group of kids over who are making them I like to set out a variety of sauces and toppings that the kids can use to customize their pizza how they want to. There are many different ways to customize personal pizzas from the sauce, to the cheese to the toppings.
Change up the sauce. Pizza Sauce, tomato sauce, and marinara sauce are great options for a red sauce. You can use alfredo sauce and pesto or change things up a whole lot and use buffalo sauce or ranch sauce for the sauce.
Change up the cheese. Instead of traditional mozzarella cheese, try using different flavors of cheese, including cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese, when sticking to classic pizza flavors. If you want to get creative and use other cheeses like cheddar or Monterey Jack, you can do that too!
Change up the toppings. Use your favorite pizza toppings, and use different ones every time you make pizza. Some of our go-to pizza toppings are pepperoni slices (my kids prefer the mini pepperoni), olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, sausage crumbles, black olives, ham, cooked chicken, cooked bacon, onions, pineapple, spinach, and diced tomatoes.
English Muffin Pizza Topping Combination Ideas
Philly Cheesesteak Pizza. Sliced steak, sautéed onions, bell peppers, and provolone cheese.
BBQ Chicken: BBQ sauce base, grilled chicken, red onions, cilantro, and smoked gouda or mozzarella.
Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Buffalo sauce, Cooked and shredded chicken, Blue cheese crumbles or homemade blue cheese dressing and mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese.
Caprese Pizza. Pesto or balsamic glaze drizzle, Sliced mozzarella cheese, Grape tomatoes, halved, fresh basil and Balsamic reduction drizzle.
What is the best way to save leftovers?
Allow the mini pizzas to cool completely. Wrap each pizza or place them in an airtight container. You can use plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or reusable food storage containers. Store the wrapped or containerized English muffin pizzas in the refrigerator. They can typically be stored for up to 2-3 days.
Can I freeze English Muffin Pizza for later?
Yes, feel free to freeze these by first freezing on a baking sheet and then placing them in a freezer-safe bag or freezer-safe container. Reheat in the air fryer, microwave, or oven, until thoroughly warm all the way through.

On the stove in a Skillet (for a crispier crust).

Use about 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce per English muffin half, or adjust to your liking. Spread it evenly to the edges.

No, since this is cooked in an air fryer, the English muffin does not get soggy from the sauce, the center of the pizza does get soft, but not soggy.
