If you are looking for a flavorful burger recipe with a bit of spice then you are going to love this Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger recipe! A juicy burger that is flavored with spices and then topped with a Picante mayo sauce and burger toppings, this burger is perfect for dinner!
Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger
We are in the heat of the summer and I do not want to cook anything inside. I want to keep the house as cool as possible and I want to have as little cooking as needed. I have been using my grill as much as possible and burgers have been dinner many times over the last few weeks. Of course, having the same thing over and over gets boring so I have been working on changing things up.
This spicy burger recipe was a hit in my house. Those who don’t love spice left off the jalapenos, and those who love spice piled them on.
What is picante sauce?
Picante sauce is a spicy pepper sauce. If you do not have any on hand you can substitute for salsa. We love the bit of kick the picante mayo sauce adds to this Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger Recipe.
Variations of this recipe
Cut the spice. If you are not a fan of the spicy flavors then you can use Monterey Jack cheese instead of pepper jack cheese and you can omit the jalapeno peppers.
Add more spice. If you are a fan of spice then you can chop up jalapeno peppers and add them to the burgeer meat mixture when making this Jalapeno burger recipe.
Add more toppings. You can stick with cheese and jalapenos or add other burger toppings when you are making this Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger Recipe. Some of our favorite burger toppings to use with this Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger Recipe are:
- sliced Red Onion
- sliced Tomato
- Iceberg Lettuce
- Bacon
Tips for making this recipe
Use good meat. If you want the best burger then you want to use a good quality ground beef. You also want to make sure the meat is fresh to give you the best flavors.
Make thick burgers. I find it best to make thick burgers instead of thinner larger-width burgers. You will have an easier time making sure they don’t burn when you are cooking them.

Medium Burgers: 145°F – 6-7 minutes of cook time.
Well Done Burger: 160°F – 7-8 minutes of cook time.
What to Serve with Burgers
There are so many great options for side dishes that go with burgers. When we make burgers we aim for healthy but also tasty side dishes and change them up all the time. There really is not a wrong side dish when you are making burgers for dinner. If I am wanting to make things more on the fun side I make homemade potato chips including salt and pepper potato chips and garlic parmesan potato chips.
When we make burgers I like to make cold side dishes like pasta salads and fresh salads because I make these burgers mainly in the summertime. If you are looking for other easy summer side dishes check out some of our favorites.
- Parmesan Garlic Sweet Potato Fries
- Classic Potato Salad
- Pasta salad with tuna
- Egg Salad Macaroni Salad
- Grilled Corn on the Cob
- Microwave Sweet Potato
- Jalapeno cheese chips
Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes! You can totally make the burger patties ahead of time and then grill them when you are ready to cook them. They will keep in an air-tight container in the fridge uncooked for 1-2 days.
Can I freeze Burgers?
If you want to make a bunch of burgers and have them in the freezer for easy dinners you can. Just make and shape the burgers. Wrap each one in plastic wrap and then place in a zip close freezer bag.
You can freeze cooked burger patties the same way and they will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
