This year was the first time that we ever went anywhere on vacation and thankfully each place we visited this year was a good place for our whole family. We are already working on planning a vacation for next year and so we are on the hunt for the next vacation place. With kids it can be a challenge because we want it to be budget friendly, kid friendly and also semi educational (one educational place to visit at least) and so we are on the hunt.
If you are like us finding the perfect spot may be tricky but there are somethings that you can do before you even leave to make sure the spot you want to go is a good fit for your family.
Tips for Finding the perfect Vacation Location for your Family
1. Budget– Before you even start to do some research into the various vacation venues, you must consider your budget. Think about how much you can afford for your vacation and start doing some research into venues that are within your budget.
To stay with in your budget you can look for deal on travel destinations and there are a lot of places to check out
Where to find deals on travel destinations
- Living Social
- Groupon
- Travel Zoo
- Expedia
- Priceline
- Hotwire
2. Age Specific– Choose a family travel location that is geared to the ages of your children. This will help to ensure that they will enjoy themselves. Do not expect them to like going on a trip in which they will be hiking for hours. Choose a vacation venue that has something to keep them entertained.
3. Amount of Travel Time– Children do not like to be spending long hours in flight or in a car traveling to the destination either. Therefore, choose a vacation destination that you think will not make the kids feel claustrophobic. Depending on the age of your kids depends on how long they will last during the travel – we have found many car activities and the DVD player have been our lifesaver on road trips.
4. Entertainment– Children like to be entertained. Therefore, choose a vacation destination that will keep them entertained. Make sure that it has recreational activities as well as an electrical hookup so that they can watch TV or play some electronic games. Take along some outdoor activity equipment as well, and beach stuff if you are planning a stay near the water.
5. Research the area– Make sure the area has things that the whole family will enjoy
6. Research where you are staying – You do not want to stay at a hotel that does not have a pool if your family is used to going to the hotel pool to swim and relax as your normal vacation routine.
The above tips will help to ensure that you make a wise choice in choosing a family travel location that is suitable to the needs of everyone. It is important that you also stay within your budget and do not extend your stay longer than what you think your children can handle.
