How to Store Vegetables
We buy and eat a lot of produce in our house. We get a box from Misfit Market (they ship fresh produce to your door and if you use coupon code COOKWME-TF8KKF you will get 25% off your first delivery) every week, we have a garden and I buy veggies at the grocery store.
With all the produce we eat on a normal basis having to go to the store all the time would be a real time suck, so I stock up when I am at the store for anything we will need for the week when I go. I also grab veggies when I find them on sale because we eat so much of it and I love being able to save money on produce.
The struggle at times with stocking up on produce is that it can go bad quickly if it is not stored properly. Storing vegetables properly will keep them from going bad faster then they should. Storing fresh veggies won’t make them never go bad, as all produce has a shelf life, but storing them properly will give you the best tasting produce and longer lasting after you buy it. I am going to help you know how to store vegetables so they last longer!
Once you know how to Store fresh vegetables in the proper places you will have a lot less vegetable spoilage happening before you can eat and enjoy them. Knowing how to store fresh veggies will also save you money because you are not throwing them away because they went bad.
Tips for Storing Fresh Vegetables
Store how you buy.
When you walk through the grocery store you notice things are placed in refrigerated or non refrigerated areas. If a product is stored in a refrigerated place in the produce section of the store then you want to store it that way at home too same for the non refrigerated items, you want them to be stored in your home the same way.
Don’t Wash.
You also do not want to wash your produce before you put it away, dampness will cause mold and make things go bad faster so save the washing until right before you use them.
Store as soon as you get home.
When you are putting your groceries away, but the produce in the proper storage spots as soon as you get home. Letting them sit in the grocery bags for long periods of time
