Egg in a Hole
I am almost embarrassed to even post this as a recipe since it is so easy, but then again some people may not have ever had one. If you have not had one I am telling you that you are going to love it and will probably continue to make it even after you are looking for cheap breakfast ideas.
This egg recipe is a SUPER easy recipe and it is SUPER cheap to make. It is a tasty breakfast that you can make and enjoy when you are trying to keep the grocery budget low. If you don’t have bread on hand, you can totally make Homemade white bread and use that to make this easy breakfast recipe.
My kids love egg in a hole and sometimes I like to make it fun for holidays by using holiday shaped cookie cutters to cut the center of the bread out. I always pop the center of the bread that I cut out in the toaster and top it with some butter.

How to Make Egg in a Hole
When you are making this easy breakfast recipe it is easy to double or triple or even more then that recipe. When I make this for my kids the younger kids tend to eat 1 and the older kids and adults tend to eat 2.
With a biscuit cutter or rim of a glass press a hole in the center of the bread.
Melt the butter over medium heat in a skillet.
Once the butter is melted place the bread in the center of the pan and crack the egg in the center of the hole.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Let it cook for at least a minute before you attempt to flip it or it will get all nasty and not look so pretty.
Once flipped cook until yolk is soft and Wiggly. Once cooked take out of the pan and enjoy!!!

I’ve been making egg-in-a-hole for years. Some folks call it egg-in-a-basket.

I love these. My mom used to make them and we called them Bird’s Nests.

Grew up on Egg in a Hole.. Also, my mom would save up all of the holes in an old bread sack in the freezer, once she had enough, she made bread pudding with them!
