Variations of this recipe
Change up the cake mix. I used chocolate cake mix but you can use vanilla cake if you want to make vanilla cake mix cookie bars.
Change up the chocolate. I like using white chocolate chips but you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, M&Ms, chopped up candy bars, butterscotch chips, and Reese’s pieces are great ways to change things up.
Make the Bars thicker or thinner. Depending on how thick you like the cookie bars you can use an 8×8 baking pan for thicker cookie bars or a 9×13 pan for thinner cookie bars.
How to Serve
You can serve these Chocolate Cake Mix Cookie Bars alone. I like them best when they are slightly warmed up. These cake mix cookie bars are also amazing warmed up and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of homemade hot fudge.
How to Store Cake Mix Cookie Bars
Most of the time when I make these there are not leftovers, if there are leftovers in your house you can easily store them. Allow the bars to cool completely, cut them into bars and then store them in an air-tight container or a zip close bag.
