Staying At A Deluxe Resort On The Monorail Line
This post is a combination of both Lauren and Stephanie’s thought on staying at a Disney World Deluxe Resort On The Monorail Line. Between the 2 of us we have stayed at least one night at a Disney World Deluxe Resort On The Monorail Line. It is also important to know that we have also combined stayed at Moderate Disney Resorts, Value Disney Resorts, Shades of Green and some of the Deluxe Resorts that are not on the monorail line.
The first year we went to Disney World we went with Disney Social Media Moms and we stayed at the Contemporary. The third year we went to Disney World we did one night at the Grand Floridian just to test it out. (Lauren).
On our last trip, we decided to finally make our dreams come true and stay at one of the deluxe resorts. Since we were already planning on going all out, we figured why not go ahead and pick a deluxe right on the monorail. (Stephanie). We wanted to be able to wake up and go down to our lobby to hop on the monorail and be right at Magic Kingdom.

When you have Young children at Disney World
There is no reason to sugar coat it, a Disney World trip with young kids is going to have everyone exhausted even though everyone is having a TON of fun and making amazing memories. There are lots of times that being a Mom I have done the more expensive thing because it would make life so much easier. That is one thing you totally want to look at when you are picking what hotel to stay at with young kids going to Disney World.
These resorts have the largest rooms on property. There will be plenty of room for everyone in the room and you will not be tripping over your stroller shoved into the corner.
Getting to the parks and back to the room are the easiest of all the resorts. Read below for what things make it easier, but know that it is a HUGE huge plus when you have a napping child!
It takes a shorter time to get to Magic Kingdom and Epcot by riding the monorail then from any of the other resorts. This is a big deal when you have kids who have been up all morning asking if the parks are open yet.
Easier to get to the Disney World Parks
Getting to the parks, especially Magic Kingdom is much easier when you are staying at a Disney World Deluxe Resort On The Monorail Line.
The lines to get through security are super short for the monorail.
When you go on the monorail you don’t even have to fold your stroller, unlike buses.
If you are staying at the Contemporary, you can actually walk to and from Magic Kingdom. It is a SUPER short walk, we did it with the kids in tow and it took us maybe 8 minutes to walk from our hotel room to the gate of Magic Kingdom.
To get to other parks, you will have to take buses but we found the bus lines to be shorter staying at Disney World Deluxe Resort On The Monorail Line then any of the other Disney World Resorts that we stayed at.

Watching Magic Kingdom Fireworks from the Resort
At these resorts, there is always a spot where you can go to watch the fireworks. We were lucky enough to have been able to place our chairs right on the grass off our room’s porch and watch the fireworks right there.
It wasn’t a perfect view, but it was amazing because our kids were too tired to walk anywhere and they were able to watch it right there in the pajamas.

Staying at a monorail resort does not necessarily mean you will get to Epcot faster than if you took a bus. It’s not a straight shot from the resort to Epcot. You have to change monorails at the Ticket Center near the Polynesian. That means two times waiting in line for a monorail.
And the monorail can be temperamental. We were late to an ADR at Chef Mickey’s (Contemporary Resort) because there was something going on with a different monorail vehicle, which clogged the line. We sat in our monorail for over 30 minutes before we got on our way.
And the bus system is unpredictable, too, so the buses to monorail resorts really aren’t any faster than at any other resort. I’ve often seen 5 buses for Animal Kingdom Lodge or 3 for Old Key West while waiting for my bus. The monorail resorts also share buses during non-peak times, so that can take longer, too.
So just be aware of that if you use either of those two reasons as point to stay at a monorail resort. Stay at one because it’s the closest to the Magic Kingdom, and that’s where you’ll be spending most of your time. Or because the monorail resorts all have great dining options, so it’s easy to hop from one resort on the line to another.
