Christmas is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about holiday treats! Why not try a fun twist on traditional Christmas trees? These Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees are perfect for any party or family gathering. The best part is they’re surprisingly easy to make. Give them a try this year!
Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees
My favorite thing about these Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees is how easy they are to make. Even kids as little as toddlers can create their own Christmas Tree Ice Cream Cone. Give the kids some frosting, some candy and some sprinkles, and let them at it.
My daughter loves to get in the kitchen to make something. She loved the Christmas tree cupcakes I had made but she wanted something that she could do since she is only 3 years old. I grab some extra sugar cones I had laying around and let her go to town with the leftover frosting I had. This ended up being a huge hit when I took my kids to grandmas house, all the kids loved doing this from one year old to 6 years old. It was fun to see how different the trees looked with each kid.
Are These Edible
Not only are they edible, I dare you to try to keep the kids from eating them. If you plan on letting the kids indulge, I recommend that you make sure their hands are washed and that they are not grabbing things around them or dropping the candies on the floor and then using them.
If you want the kids to eat these special treats, you will want to store them in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic or foil. This will protect the treats so that they can be eaten over several days. I know my kids are eating just as much candy and frosting as they are putting on their Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees so they do not eat the treats much as soon as they are made. But they like to nibble on them over the next few days.
How Long Will They Last
These Christmas tree treats can last a few days. The candies and the cone will get unappetizing if you do not make sure they are covered well. if covered, these treats can last for about 5 days.
Variations
What else can you use for these Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees? Honestly, the possibilities are endless.
- Coconut. Kids can add coconut just because they like it or add it to represent snow on the tree.
- Gum Drops. Add whole gumdrops, small ones will work best, around the tree or break them into pieces.
- Different Candies. Just like the sprinkles, any kind of candies can be used. The kids enjoy adding chocolate candies as well as sour candies and chewy candies.
- Use Candy rope or licorice. If you are wanting to have garland on your tree, use red licorice, candy rope or pull and peel twizzlers.
- Sprinkles. If you want to have shaped ornaments on the tree you can use sprinkles of different shapes.
- Use homemade frosting or store bought. You can use homemade frosting or store bought depending on what it easiest for you.
