Nutter butter Snowman Cookies
I have this thing about cute treats for the holidays and making treats that look like well known holiday symbols. These snowman cookies are so much fun, the kids love them, they look cute and they are super tasty. Using nutter butter cookies, m&ms and icing you will have these super cute Christmas nutter butter cookies that will look amazing on the Christmas Dessert table!
Yes I know we are still in the fall months, but as I was going thru the posts on the site that needed new photos I couldn’t help but to have the photos redone for these adorable easy snowman cookies. They are so easy to make and everytime I have made them the kids have loved them.
These Chocolate Dipped Snowman Nutter butter Cookies are perfect for any winter parties or holiday parties. You can add them to any holiday cookie basket or platter and they will make it extra fun and festive.

Tips and Variations of this recipe
Change up the chocolate. I like using white chocolate so they are snowman colored but you can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate but you can also use different colored chocolate melts. You could also double layer the chocolate and dipp them in milk chocolate and then white chocolate if you wanted to.
Use a Double Boiler to melt chocolate. When you are melting chocolate for dipping the best way to do so is with a double boiler. You can buy a double boiler in the store but they are so easy to make at home with items you already have in your kitchen. If you have never used a double boiler read how to make a double boiler at home.
Add Sprinkles. You can add white, clear or colored crystal sprinkles or colored sugar.
Change up the cookies. Not a fan of Nutter Butters? You can also use milano cookies.
Use store bought frosting. If you do not want to make royal icing you can use store bought icing and color it black for the face.
Add more details. If you want to add more details, you can use frosting to pipe on a scarf if you want to.
How to Melt White chocolate
When you are melting candy melts there are multiple ways to do it. You can use these methods for chocolate bark as well.
Melt chocolate in the microwave. To melt candy melts in the microwave you need to use a microwave safe bowl. Pour the chocolate into the bowl and then microwave the candy melts in 30-second increments until completely melted, making sure you don’t burn it.
Use a double boiler. A double boiler is my favorite way to melt chocolate. Melting Chocolate. You can do it in the microwave however I much prefer melting chocolate in a double boiler. I find it ends up being easier to use. If you have never melted chocolate in a double boiler. How to Dip Cookies in Melted Chocolate
You can use a fork, a spoon or your fingers but I find that to be messy. I suggest grabbing this Dipping Tool 3-Piece Set that will make it MUCH easier to dip the cookies into the chocolate.
Dip the cookie into the chocolate while on the dipper making sure you cover all of the cookie. Then tap the dipper gently against the bowl you have melted the chocolate in to get off any excess chocolate and then lay flat on a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
I find it best to use a bowl or a short glass when melting the chocolate to make it easier to dip the cookies in the chocolate.
How to Store Chocolate covered Cookies
The Chocolate covered nutter Butter Cookies should be refrigerated or kept in a cool dark place. Store in an air tight container as chocolate can pick up odors.
When you are storing them in an airtight container you will want to layer the cookies on a single layer. Then place a piece of parchment paper and layer more. Continue doing this until you have filled up the container.
Using parchment paper between the chocolate dipped cookies will keep them from sticking together. It will also make it easier to remove the cookies from the container.
Chocolate Snowman Nutter butter Cookies Ingredients
- 32 Nutter Butter Cookies
- 10 ounces Ghirardelli White Chocolate Wafers
- 2 cups M & M candies
- 1 batch Royal Icing colored black
How to Make Chocolate Dipped Nutter butter Snowmen
Line a cookie with wax paper.
Using a double boiler melt the white chocolate wafers.
Dip each Nutter Butter cookies entirely into the melted white chocolate.
Make sure that the cookie is fully covered with the melted white chocolate.
Remove the cookie from the melted chocolate then using a fork.
Lay the white chocolate covered cookie on the wax paper.
Now for decorating them it is easy, Refer to the picture of the cookie to decorate them. Place two matching colored M & M”s on the lower half of the cookie. Stand one orange M & M on it’s side directly below the candy eyes and place it as the nose. Allow the cookies to set completely.
Mix your royal icing and then scoop all of the black icing and put it into a piping bag with #2 tip.
Using the black icing and make two black dots for the eyes in the middle of the top half of the Nutter Butter cookie. Using the same black icing make a smile with four smaller black dots under the nose
