How to Make this as a Side Dish
As much as I love this recipe as a main dish it also makes an AMAZING side dish. When I am making it as a side dish for a holiday meal I skip the chicken however you can keep it in it.
If you want to make this ahead of time, do all of the prep and cooking except the last baking portion.
Then pour all of the mixture into a baking dish and then top it with cheese and store it in the fridge until you are going to enjoy it. Then bake at 350 for 15 minutes or so to reheat it and melt the cheese before serving.

my family loves this recipe! i’m not sure why it is not rated higher. easy to make and my littles (2 & 5) devour it!
I add an entire head of fresh chopped garlic. my deep italian heritage calls for it! Fresh Garlic is the only way to go!
I’ve also added red pepper flakes which gives it a bit of a spicy-ness.

This is one of the best recipes I’ve ever made from Pinterest. I added bacon crumbles on the second day. It’s a wonderful and flavorful dish. I used extra heavy cream for extra sauce.
