Now that Halloween is over it’s time to start making things feel like Christmas! I love having different fragrances around the house for each room, so this Stovetop Potpourri for Christmas is a perfect idea! I have wax melters in our bathrooms, candles in our living room and the stove top potpourri in the kitchen. This is my favorite Christmas scent because it just smells like something is cooking in the kitchen.
Stovetop Potpourri for Christmas
While you may want to leave this heating all day, you do need to be careful about any stovetop potpourri you make. They can boil dry, and be a fire hazard. So, I highly recommend using this only when you will be present in the kitchen. Play it safe and enjoy this stovetop potpourri not just during the holidays, but year round!
Ingredients for Stovetop Potpourri:Â
1 orange
1/2 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 tablespoon cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
3 cups water
Directions for Stovetop Potpourri:Â
- Slice the orange and break the cinnamon stick in half.
- Place all the ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Simmer over low heat for as long as desired. When the water starts running low just add more water.
As you can see, this is truly a simple idea to bring the smell of the holidays to your home. We much prefer this over other chemical laden sprays and candles. This is a healthier option and a great idea for customizing your own potpourri at any time!
