I am not sure if you have ever tried to quietly shut the door when your baby was sleeping just to have it wake them up. We I have, you feel like James bond having to sneak out but you are just not that sneaky! One of my friends told me about this door latch cover she bought off Esty and it was just so simple I had to figure out how to make it myself. I had this great fabric left over from both of the kids blankets and knew that would match their rooms. The main thing you have to do is make sure its thick enough to muffle the sound. The thick fabric I used for the middle of this one wasn’t thick enough so I had to use two pieces but it was what I had on hand. Now I am able to just tip toe out of my daughters room and shut the door like I normal would with out any added sound to wake her up. This is also a great way to make it so the kids can not lock the door and lock themselves in it or lock you out of a room!

DIY Door Latch Cover Directions
Cut two pieces of fabric and the batting, very thick fabric or a piece of felt your using your note card as your pattern. Cut your hair tie in half so you end up with two equal pieces. Place the fabric down so your filler is on the bottom than your two outside pieces are facing together right sides in. Pin one half of the hair tie down in between the two top fabrics with the ends facing out. Repeat on the other side with the other half of the hair tie. Pin the middle of all the fabrics together. Now sew around the outside leaving a small hole for turning it right side out. Turn right side out and top stitch around to close the hole. Put the elastics around your door knobs.
