This salsa is not ask dark red as a salsa like restaurant style salsa because of the tomatoes that are used. For this homemade salsa we use all fresh ingredients, so if you have a garden this is the perfect salsa to make to use up those fresh home grown tomatoes!
Tips for making homemade salsa
I really recommend using vine ripened tomatoes in this recipe it really makes a different. I am very luck to have fresh tomatoes in my garden right now.
If you would like your salsa to have less spice you can remove half or all the seeds from the jalapeno before you add it.
I use a food processor because it is easier. If you don’t have a food processer you can chop all the ingredients by hand.
Do not puree the salsa. You want some texture in your salsa and you want there to be chunks in it as well.
If you have time, let the salsa chill in the fridge for a bit before serving. Chilled salsa tastes even better and I actually think that this homemade salsa with fresh tomatoes tastes better after it has sat in the fridge for a few hours or even over night.
How long will homemade Salsa last?
If stored in an airtight container in the fridge this salsa will keep for up to 1 week.
