Strawberry waffles are the perfect breakfast! Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside and loaded with strawberries in every bite.
Strawberry Waffles
Breakfast is one of my favorite foods to make, my kids are big fans of waffles and pancakes and I love that there are so many variations for each. I recently made these strawberry waffles and the kids gobbled them up! They are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They are the perfect breakfast waffle!
During the holidays I like to make things fun and make our meals themed. This strawberry waffle recipe is my go to for Valentine’s Day breakfast. I use red food coloring to make them pink, but you can skip that part if you are not wanting to make them themed. Although for some reason kids really love it when you make their food fun colors.
This homemade waffles with strawberries recipe is perfect for breakfast, having breakfast for dinner or a brunch.

Tips for Making Homemade Waffles
Using Fresh Strawberries. If you are using fresh strawberries up the milk to 2 cups of milk to make up for the liquid from the frozen strawberries.
Use Egg Whites. They are so light and fluffy from the egg whites.. Don’t overfold the egg whites into the batter, it’s okay to have a few lumps.
Food Coloring is optional. If you are making these waffles for a regular daily breakfast then you do not have to put in the food coloring. We put the food coloring in when we are making them specific for Valentine’s Day. You will want to add enough red food dye to give you a bright red color.
A GOOD Waffle maker. For me it is important that I have an amazing waffle maker, seriously you need a good one. Spend the extra few bucks to get a good one, it is so worth it! It doesn’t matter if it is a square waffle maker or a round waffle maker, either one will work.
Let the waffle maker heat up completely. It is important that the waffle maker is heated completely before you put any waffle batter on.
Grease the waffle maker. Greasing the waffle maker will keep the waffles from sticking and will help them get crispy. Use a silicone brush and brush oil on the heated waffle maker before pouring the waffle batter on.
Do not peek! It might be tempting to open the waffle maker to check on them, but that is not good for making the perfect waffle. Wait the full cook time before opening the waffle maker.
How to Freeze Homemade Waffles
To make my life easier I like to make a large batch of waffles and freeze them. Then we have tasty waffles with out all the work for breakfast.
It is easy to freeze waffles. Let the waffles cool and then wrap each waffle individually with plastic wrap. Place wrapped waffles into a freezer bag and zip shut. Place waffles in the freezer. They will stay fresh for about 2 months in the freezer.
To cook your waffles from the freezer, just pop them in the toaster in the morning when you want to eat them.
