I love coffee and holiday flavors, but I don’t want to spend a ton of money. That’s why I started making my own Homemade Peppermint Mocha with ingredients from the grocery store, and no fake coffee creamer. It was surprisingly easy! Once you try this recipe at home, you will always keep the recipe close by.
Homemade Peppermint Mocha
Tis the season for a yummy holiday coffee and I hate having to take up extra room in my fridge with that fake coffee creamer. So I came up with my own way to make my holiday drinks and I LOVE my Homemade Peppermint Mocha. Since I always have coffee in hand, you know that this has to be one of my favorites.
With my deep love of coffee, I am always making something new. Some of my favorite coffee recipes are Whipped Mocha Dalgona Coffee Recipe, Easy Pumpkin Spice Coffee Recipe and of course, the newest obsession is How to Make Coffee Bombs.
How to Make Candy Cane Pieces
If you are having this drink every day you don’t have to go all out with the crushed candy canes and whipped cream but I totally won’t judge you if you do! If you feel like these extra make the coffee even better, it is easy to crush the candy cane pieces. To make your own crushed candy cane pieces just place a candy cane in a ziptop and crush with a rolling pin. It is a great way to get out some stress if you want to beat the candy cane up with a spoon too.
Can Peppermint Mocha Coffee be Made Ahead of Time
It is really easy to make this coffee as you are ready to enjoy it. But there are some days when I am so busy I don’t have time for anything extra. Ok, let’s face it, that’s most days. If you wanted to make this coffee mixture ahead of time, you can. Mix the ingredients together, in however large of a batch you like, but keep it equal to the recipe. Then store it in the refrigerator. Do not add the candy cane pieces, chocolate chips, or whipped cream until it is time to serve it, however. You will want to add these things after you have reheated the coffee.
How to Add the Peppermint to the Drink
You are only using a little bit of peppermint in this coffee. That helps it from being overwhelming. In this case, I am adding a dry the the cup and then swirling it around before dumping out any extra. This keep the peppermint from taking over. Make sure you are using a pure extract for the best flavor.
Tips for Make this Peppermint Mocha Drink
If you love Starbucks Peppermint Mocha and you want to enjoy it at home, this recipe couldn’t be easier. It is great when you want to skip the drive through, save some money or want it in the middle of summer when it isn’t available to buy. Some thing to keep in mind when you are making this recipe.
It can be made into ice coffee. Sometimes, I just want iced coffee. While this might not be the norm in the middle of winter, it is very common in the summer. With that being said, since you are making this recipe at home, you can easily turn it into an ice coffee recipe. Use cold brew coffee or have some stored in the refrigerator. You can also just add lots of ice to fresh brewed coffee.
Using a Keurig or other coffee machine– You can easily make this recipe using a single serve coffee maker. You can also easily make it using a traditional coffee pot.
What Kind of Coffee Is Best?– That is the simple part. Whatever kind of coffee you like. Some prefer a simple breakfast blend, some prefer a dark roast and some people prefer something in the middle. I like to use a medium roast whenever I make my coffee. I would skip a flavored coffee. Since the flavored coffee can vary from brand to brand and the original Starbucks peppermint mocha coffee is made using their coffee, a traditional coffee is best.
