There are lots of different side dishes that go well with this amazing Pumpkin Sauce for pasta. It is known in our house that we are always going to have garlic bread and salad.
They just fit perfectly with the meal. However I also like to make more veggies for the meal as well, Steamed broccoli and Roasted Asparagus are my go to veggies.

If you want to add a little kick to this creamy pumpkin pasta sauce recipe just add a small amount of red pepper flakes when you are adding in the other spices.
What Type of Pasta goes with Pumpkin Sauce?
Pumpkin pasta sauce pairs wonderfully with a variety of pasta shapes. If you want to go completely from scratch you can make homemade pasta too! Some of our favorite choices include:

If you are adding veggies to this pasta dish, cook them in a separate pan, and then when you mix the pasta with the sauce add it in then.

This homemade creamy pumpkin pasta sauce is made with pumpkin puree, you can use either canned pumpkin puree or you can use homemade pumpkin puree. Of course, if you have been around here for a while you know that I always go with homemade as much as possible.
What Meat Can I add to Pumpkin Pasta Sauce?
Adding meat to pumpkin pasta sauce can create a hearty and satisfying dish. Here are some meats that pair well with pumpkin pasta sauce:
- Sausage. Italian sausage, whether sweet or spicy, adds depth of flavor and complements the sweetness of the pumpkin sauce.

- sour cream
- nutmeg
- salt

- fresh parsley

How to Make Pumpkin Pasta Sauce
This pumpkin sauce will make enough pasta sauce for a 1 pound box of any shape pasta.
Cook your pasta per the directions on your box to al dente in a large pot and then drain the water and put the pasta back in the pot once it is done cooking. You can also make fresh zoodles while the sauce is being made.
On the stove over medium-high heat, put a saucepan or large skillet. Then add the olive oil to the pan. Heat the olive oil for a few minutes and then grate the garlic into the oil, cook for a minute until it gets fragrant.
Stir in the chicken or vegetable broth and make sure to scrap up the garlic bites from the bottom of the pan and mix them with the broth.
Add the pumpkin puree to the saucepan and mix well and turn the heat to medium heat.
Stir in the milk, sour cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper, turn the heat to medium-low heat and simmer for ten minutes.
Mix the cooked pasta with the pumpkin sauce and cook for a minute.
Top with the parsley and grated parmesan cheese.

- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley minced
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
