I can’t tell you how many bath toys I have had to throw away due to mildew in them. I have tried to clean them out but once the mildew is in them its hard to get it out. I have drained them to see if that would help, but after bath time that is a lot of work and letting them sit until I can get to it after taking the kids out of the bath is not going to help either.
