My husbands favorite candy ever is Reese’s peanut butter cups. Once a year they come out with Reese’s peanut butter eggs which is like a peanut butter cup but soooo much better. They are his absolute favorite with twice the amount of peanut filling in each egg. This also means he likes them more often than just during Easter. So while they are an Easter dessert, I do make theee all year long.
I came up with this Peanut Butter chocolate Egg Recipe specifically for when he wants them at times you can not get them in the store. You can make these easter treats in any shape that you want to. I personally just like to make them egg shaped and think they are perfect for Easter.

Best Peanut butter to Use
I am picky when it comes to my Peanut butter, I personally like to use Peanut Butter and Co. Peanut butter or Justin’s Peanut Butter. You can use your favorite peanut butter if you want to when making these Chocolate Peanut Butter eggs if you are not up to trying a new peanut butter. The important thing with the peanut butter is that you use smooth peanut butter and not chunky.
Best Chocolate to use
When it comes to dipping chocolate, I LOVE a good chocolate! To be honest when you are making chocolate peanut butter eggs, it is a must to use a good chocolate.
I am slightly picky on my chocolate because I LOVE Chocolate, so when you are making your Peanut butter eggs you want a good chocolate! My favorite to use is the Ghirardelli dipping chocolate, it is sooo good!
When making these I normally use milk chocolate. However, you can use dark chocolate and white chocolate if that is your preference.
Tips for Making this Recipe
Use a Double Boiler to melt the chocolate. You are going to need to melt chocolate, the best way to do so is with a double boiler. If you have never melted chocolate with a double boiler, check out How to Melt Chocolate in a Double Boiler.
Don’t cut the fridge time short. The peanut butter shaped eggs need the fridge time to set. Taking them out of the fridge and dipping in the hot melted chocolate will cause them to crumble if they are not fully cooled and set.
Shake off the excess chocolate. It is important when you are dipping peanut butter eggs in chocolate to get the excess chocolate off.
How to Store Peanut Butter eggs
After the chocolate has hardened you can store them in an air tight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you would like them to last longer or your house is warmer store them in the fridge.
Can you freeze chocolate peanut butter eggs?
Yes! If you want to make these ahead of time and freeze them you can. After making them, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lay flat on the baking sheet and place in the freezer. Freeze until solid. Then store in an airtight container in layers, with parchment or wax paper between the layers in the freezer.
